Hornets Nest Region, AACA Announces Pause of Fall Event at Charlotte Motor Speedway for 2026
Charlotte, NC — The Hornets Nest Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) has announced that it will pause its fall automotive event at Charlotte Motor Speedway for 2026.
This decision follows a thorough planning process with Speedway leadership. While both organizations explored multiple options and locations across the campus, scheduling and logistical alignment ultimately prevented the event from coming together in a way that meets the standard our vendors, partners, and attendees expect.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the continued partnership and effort from the team at Charlotte Motor Speedway,” said Kenneth Gilmore, Executive Director of the Hornets Nest Region, AACA. “They worked hard to explore creative solutions with us, and this decision is simply about timing and fit for 2026.”
In recent years, the fall event has continued to evolve as the automotive hobby and event landscape changes. Following the conclusion of the fall Charlotte AutoFair, the Hornets Nest Region introduced Hornets Nest Auto Fest with the goal of returning to a more traditional, grassroots-style swap meet experience. While that vision resonated with many longtime enthusiasts, the transition also highlighted opportunities for the organization to better define and deliver that experience moving forward.
Pausing the 2026 fall event will allow the organization to focus its energy on two key priorities:
- Delivering an outstanding Spring Charlotte AutoFair 2027, scheduled for April 8–10, 2027
- Continuing to grow and refine its newer fall event, Spirit of Wilkes 2026, held at historic North Wilkesboro Speedway
“Spirit of Wilkes represents an exciting opportunity for us to build something unique and deeply connected to the roots of the hobby,” Gilmore added. “We’re encouraged by the momentum and look forward to welcoming vendors and guests this October.”
Vendors and attendees are encouraged to mark their calendars and stay connected for updates and registration details for both events.
