Hornets Nest Region

Antique Automobile Club of America

The Hornets Nest Region is a chartered Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA). The AACA — founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1935 — is now headquartered in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Today the AACA organization includes more than 60,000 members worldwide.

The Hornets Nest Region (HNR) was chartered in October 1967 by the AACA Board of Directors, during their meeting held at the AACA Hershey Fall Meet. The Hornets Nest Region was originally chartered with twelve members and has now grown to more than 500 members in a wide area around Charlotte and surrounding counties.

The general goal of the AACA is to restore vehicles twenty-five years old, or older, to the condition as it left the factory when new. Restored vehicles are judged on the following basics: interiors restored using the original factory type materials and design, including all chrome and metal finishes; exteriors restored using colors and paint finish original to the vehicle, including all chrome and metal finishes; engine compartments restored to new condition with the type of engine original to the vehicle, including all accessories; chassis restored to new condition with all components as original. Another goal of AACA is to preserve the originality of vehicles that should not be restored so that the original conditions can be observed – the Historical Preservation of Original Features – or “HPOF” as the Judging Class is known in AACA.

The Hornets Nest Region, AACA, is dedicated to the goals of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the hobby of restoration, preservation and family involvement with vehicles that are twenty-five years old or older.
